Stakeholder Engagement & Complaints

Carbon markets - and the projects working to save our planet from global warming - are everyone's business. It is essential that all stakeholders are provided visibility and have the opportunity to offer input on new methodologies and projects. We encourage all voices to participate during public commentary to ensure these initatives benefit from feedback.
While a proposed project is undergoing third-party validation, the project proposal will be published on the OCP for 15 days of public commentary.
The Project Developer must respond to all public commentary as part of the approval process.
All comments and their resolution will be made publicly available on the registry along with the project description.
We also include sections in the project proposal form for previous public engagement and consultation, as well as detailed sections requiring developers to discuss potential social and community impacts, both positive and negative.
While we encourage public comments and feedback of our platform at any point in time, we conduct a formal 30 day period of comments after substantial changes have been made to our Handbook, platform process, or governance structure.
Comments are then taken under consideration by staff and board members, and a responses are given along with plans for incorporation.
These comments along with our responses will be made publicly available here and on the OCP website.
How We Engage the Public
Public commentary periods are open to anyone-- though we understand that certain groups are more affected by the policies they represent than others and the importance of having their voices heard (such as Indigenous Peoples, and local communities). Public commentary periods are held to hear from these perspectives.
Formal public commentary periods are advertised through our communication channels, as well as through the industry groups we are apart of which have a wide reaching and diverse network.
Specific projects are required to conduct local environmental and social risk analysis and gain local feedback through their project implementation.
Reporting Grievances
Outside of formal commentary periods, we encourage anyone to contact us with thoughts or concerns about the OCP platform or any of our partners. Whether you have a question, a complaint, or require clarification, we are committed to addressing all greivances with care and transparency.
Grievances should be submitted in writing to the OCP admin team at: admin@ocp.earth.
The OCP admin team will conduct an initiral review to determine the nature and scope of the grievance and provide an initial response within 1 week.
If the grievance requires futher investigation or if it involves complex matters (i.e. issues with OCP partners or staff resulting in a COI), it will be referred to our independent board for review and recommendations.
During the review process, we are open to dialogue with the individual or group that raised the grievance. Our goal is to maintain transparency and engage with stakeholders in good faith to work toward a fair solution.
A formal response, including any proposed actions or resolutions, wil be provided within 30 days of receiving the grievance. If the matter requires more time due to its complexity, the stakeholder will be notified in writing and a new timeline will be proposed.
If a stakeholder requires additional information beyond what is currently accessible, they should contact the OCP admin team. The admin team will then coordinate with the appropriate user to fulfill the information request.

Previous complaints, public commentaries, and solutions will be published here and on the OCP website unless the one reporting the grievance wishes for it to be kept confidential.
